HealthNet TPO is a Netherlands based not for profit, non-governmental organization founded on the principle that access to affordable quality health care is a basic human right.
In 1992 HealthNet TPO was established by ‘Doctors without Borders’ to bridge the gap between emergency aid and structural development. The organization is now the result of a merger between HealthNet International (HNI) and the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO). HNI has knowledge and experience in reinforcing healthcare systems and prevention, diagnosis and treatment of transmissible diseases. TPO is an expert in the field of psychosocial and mental health care for survivors of war and natural disasters. HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is managed by a team of qualified Afghans and supported by a team of experts at the HQ of the organization in Holland.
HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. HealthNet TPO is currently implementing projects in almost 20 provinces of Afghanistan and the major program it implements are HER (Health Emergency Response) projects in three provinces, Nutrition, Mental Health and Psychosocial, Malaria Control program, Tuberculus……. through a community system strengthening approach.
HealthNet TPO has a zero tolerance toward sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse. HNITPO takes seriously all concerns and complaints about sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse involving HNITPO employees and Related Personnel.
Job Description:
- To prepare and implement a good micro plan for outreach and fix programs under the supervision of HF in-charge and related supervisor.
- Be able to prepare an update list of the EPI and MCH dropouts to follow them in outreach sessions.
- To store, handle and maintain vaccines as per Afghanistan N-EPI/UNICEF/WHO protocols.
- To dispose contaminated waste in a responsible manner to prevent exposure and harm.
- To provide EPI services in the HFs and out-reach.
- To maintain a high level of cold chain management all the time
- To respond immediately to any cold chain irregularity using local possibilities including sending vaccines to other closest health facility with cold chain system
- To report immediately any irregularity of cold chain to the HF in-charge and immediate line supervisor.
- To mobilize the community to immunize their children and women of reproductive age (social mobilization)
- To provide appropriate health education to prevent dropout and increase coverage.
- To motivate the drop out clients, search them in the target area and refer them for completion of remaining vaccines.
- To provide health education for her/his client to mobilize them to the Health Facilities and outreach sessions.
- To identify and report problems that interfere with the delivery of EPI and other health services.
- To identify and prevent areas of missed opportunity within the HF target area and in the province.
- To meet with project staff for program development and problem solving
- To attend training programs as required by the HealthNet TPO and other stakeholders.
- To provide complete, accurate, clear and on time monthly reports and other activity reports to the line manager and the project office.
- To maintain proper filing and keep the relevant record as required by the project.
- Work as back up vaccinator in those HFs where needed.
- Provide support and assist the health facility staff during the overload of patients.
- Provision of materials and information for health education sessions to the clients and communities.
- To carry out tracking of the target on monthly basis and report to the line supervisor.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the line supervisor and HealthNet TPO management.
Job Requirements:
- To have at least baccalaureate degree,.
- At least 2-year work experience in immunization.
- Successfully completed immunization initial training
- Previous experience is desirable.
- Must be fluent in local languages (Pashto and Dari) and working knowledge of English.
