Job Description:
The Storekeeper is responsible for managing and overseeing the storage and distribution of food items for the WFP Food Distribution Project. This role includes maintaining inventory records, ensuring proper storage conditions, and coordinating with other team members to ensure efficient and accurate distribution of food to beneficiaries. The Storekeeper plays a crucial role in ensuring that food items are handled safely and securely, in compliance with organizational and humanitarian standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of all food items received, stored, and distributed.
- Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and report any shortages or surpluses to the Project Manager.
- Ensure that inventory records are updated in a timely manner and stored securely.
Storage and Handling:
- Ensure that all food items are stored in appropriate conditions to maintain their quality and safety.
- Implement proper storage techniques to prevent spoilage, contamination, and damage.
- Organize the storage area to allow easy access and efficient retrieval of food items.
- Adhere to safety and hygiene standards in the storage and handling of food items.
Distribution Coordination:
- Coordinate with the Food Distributors to ensure timely and accurate distribution of food items to beneficiaries.
- Prepare and pack food items for distribution, ensuring that quantities are accurate and properly labeled.
- Assist in loading and unloading food items during distribution activities.
- Ensure that distribution records are accurately maintained and submitted to the Project Manager.
Quality Control:
- Inspect food items upon receipt to ensure they meet quality standards and are free from damage or contamination.
- Monitor the condition of food items in storage and take appropriate action if any issues are identified.
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the safety and integrity of all stored food items.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit regular reports on inventory levels, distribution activities, and any issues encountered.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all storage and distribution activities.
- Document any incidents or discrepancies and report them to the Project Manager.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other team members to ensure a coordinated and efficient distribution process.
- Communicate any issues or challenges to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
- Participate in team meetings and provide updates on storage and inventory activities.

Education:
- High School graduate
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience particularly in food and cash-based assistance.
- Previous experience working in challenging and remote environments is an asset.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software and tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items.
