About HEWAD, Reconstruction, Health & Humanitarian Assistance Committee:

HEWAD is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit charity organization established in 1994 to provide Medical, Educational, Social, and Humanitarian Assistance to needy people of Afghanistan. HEWAD implements primary health care for needy people of Afghanistan, and within those focuses on the provision of health care to the most vulnerable group, children and women. HEWAD provides perfect health education, information, and services to Afghans to improve their living condition.

Job Description:

The Education Officer, reporting to the Provincial Education Coordinator, is entrusted with the responsibility of executing education activities, including but not limited to Community-Based Education (CBE), Accelerated Learning Programs (ALP), community mobilization, and fostering teaching and administration skills development for school teachers. The role extends to directing beneficiaries/students to receive need-based or emergency education.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Provincial Education Coordinator, overseeing all aspects of project implementation, including school assessment, training, and awareness for children’s caregivers.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of project activities under the expert guidance of the PEC Project Coordinator.
  • Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments for project staff and teachers, working collaboratively with Education Trainers.
  • Develop and organize on-the-job refresher training to bridge gaps and enhance the capacity of individuals and departments targeted by the project.
  • Design and execute training programs for teachers in strict adherence to the approved project proposal.
  • Regularly assess the impact of all conducted training sessions, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the meticulous monitoring of project activities based on the approved schedule.
  • Generate initial reports of activities and communicate them promptly.
  • Maintain a meticulous record of project activities, ensuring thorough data collection and organized filing.
  • Effectively coordinate with relevant government departments, including the provincial education department, district education departments, and the department of the economy.
  • Conduct regular field visits to project-targeted areas for firsthand insights.
  • Prepare monthly result-based progress reports.
  • Develop and coordinate daily plans and activities contributing to the project’s objectives.
  • Implement innovative approaches to address challenges and enhance the efficacy of educational programs.
  • Conduct regular and as-needed field visits from the project site.
  • Provide timely reporting of overall activities at the field level to the PEC.
  • Oversee and supervise activities at the field level, sharing findings with the PEC and relevant staff for continual improvement.
  • Assist Education Trainers in designing training and supervising training sessions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in a relevant role.
  • Exceptional communication skills, particularly in the local languages (Dari/Pashtu).
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to ensure programs are completed within scheduled timelines.
  • Ability to organize and conduct seminars and workshops for teacher and staff development.
  • Adaptability in adjusting technical language and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders within the organization.
  • Sound judgment for assessing staff performance and capacity building for effective program implementation.
  • Ability to work under pressure with honesty and responsibility.
