Purpose of the Job:
The purpose of the Logistics Officer is to ensure smooth implementation and accountability of NRC’s logistics Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and policies.
The position holder will act and align all logistics-related assignments according to policies, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), and donor requirements to ensure quality and transparency in the logistical process.
The Logistics Officer will take an active role in supporting field-based logistics staff to comply with NRC and donor guidelines.

Generic responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance with NRC policies, manuals, guidelines standard operating procedures (SOP), and donor requirements.
- Performs delegated logistics functions by the action plan.
- Conducts daily operational logistics activities and ensures follow-up.
- Assists in the administration of resources to ensure deliverables are completed within budget, on time, and to standard.
- Prepares and develops logistics reports as requested by the country/area office.
- Contributes to the development of SOPs as needed.
- Ensures proper filing of all supporting documents.
- Promotes and shares ideas to improve the logistics function.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Specific responsibilities:
- Ensure the assets register are filled and records are up to date.
- Ensure warehouse/store is well arranged and reconciliation is in place.
- Maintain good use of the office generator and ensure its operations as per the schedule
- Control and manage efficient use of generator and vehicle fuels.
- Ensure vehicles and generators are in good working condition.
- Plan the road mission of national and international staff as per security measurements.
- A draft request for quotations to suppliers for tendering purposes.
- Preparation of procurement memos and contracts for local procurements.
- Processing of procurement orders (POs) for local procurement.
- Preparation of suppliers’ payments and submission to finance to process payments.
- Follow up on the deliveries of items from the local suppliers, country offices, and field offices.
- Filing procurement and contracting supporting documents.
- Inform the procurement requester before the reception of any materials from suppliers.
- Ensure suppliers are treated equally, no conflict of interest in the collection of quotes.
- Provide regular and weekly procurement updates on progress and challenges to supervisors and other team members.
- Manage the working roster of official and contractual drivers.
- Any other task related assigned by the Logistics Coordinator.
Generic professional competencies:
- Experience working in Logistics and Procurement in a humanitarian or recovery context.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Experience in web-based financial software.
- Knowledge of cash-based interventions and market-based programs.
Context/Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, and or Supply Chain Management.
- Minimum 3 years of logistic and procurement experience in a similar role with international NGOs and UN preferable.
- Knowledge of the local market situation in the northern region.
- Strong computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel is mandatory)
