ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The hunger crisis in Afghanistan is unfolding at a rapid pace, with 15 million of population now facing acute food insecurity. Work opportunities are shrinking, with most households now reporting just one day of work per week. This comes on top of the worst drought in years, which is especially concerning for the 85 percent of the population who rely on agriculture for livelihoods. Preventing and mitigating a drastic increase in hunger and malnutrition is the aim of WFP in Afghanistan which can only be achieved through the scaled up and sustained complementary food security and nutrition interventions, combined with a scale-up of resilience interventions to safeguard gains. WFP has embarked on a significant month on month scale-up of its crisis response and resilience programmes across the country, ensuring that the programme is delivered at the right scale and time, targeted to the right areas. WFP is also actively following up on evolving trends to pre-empt hotspots, while guaranteeing quality and maximum impact of the programme through the monitoring of these hotspots to be able to support continued donor advocacy.
JOB PURPOSE
To deliver high quality technical support, system and data maintenance across a range of areas, in order to contribute to the effective delivery of IT services.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- – Provide WFP IT standard software and hardware on-time support and services for users.
- – Test different scenarios and use cases in the training environment before deployment in production.
- – Support in the configuration of both offline devices, such as Famoco devices and Android devices, during redemption to make sure their health status is able to support WFP programs.
- – Understanding the gathering of business has the capacity to represent data in flow charts and explain technical matters in a language accessible to the users.
- – Understand different WFP delivery mechanisms and how they are implemented, such as Cash-(Bank Account, MoMo, and e-voucher technology)
- – Assist in the initial deployment of new IT infrastructure at new premises and the field.
- – Effectively manage local IT ServiceDesk and IT incident ticketing systems daily for efficient and on-time support provided to the users.
- – Support WFP users in the office when they want to access digital tools such as SCOPE PLATFORM and understand the configuration of the platform end-to-end
- – Support the country office in conducting MAITA (Macro IT Assessment assessments) and Micro IT Assessment to determine the best delivery mechanism in the country.
- – Conduct Learning and capacity-building sessions with study materials for SCOPE cooperating partners.
- – Provide SCOPE technical support to all CPs, End users, and field offices.
- – Maintain and ensure data accuracies and management in Sharepoint and NEST protocols for proper data sharing protocols in line with WFP corporate guidelines.
- – Be in contact with RBB and SSD (ServiceDesk) Global ServiceDesk for all SCOPE-related issues and take action within less than five hours for a quick resolution.
- – Contribute to all SCOPE-related meetings.
- – Handle/manage small/medium projects under tight deadlines.
- – Actively participate in daily, weekly, and external meetings and reflect the ICT point of view.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Higher education in lieu of work experience
Relevant, completed university degrees may be considered in lieu of experience with the following conversions:
- Completed Master’s degree: Equal to 1 year of work experience.
- Completed Bachelor’s degree: Equal to 2 year’s work experience.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in IT.
Desired Work Experience:
- Has experience resolving more complex technical issues.
- Has experience with the application of client services standards to resolve or escalate clients’ service problems
- Has experience in installing and testing new hardware to enhance or upgrade system performance, including servers, switches, and access points.
- Has experience in basic Server Services management, encompassing AD, DNS, DHCP, RODC, FTP, and Microsoft Office 365.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with the application development lifecycle, including languages such as PHP and Python, and experience with web-based applications.
- Basic understanding of cloud services and platforms, with exposure to AWS and Azure.
Language:
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and local languages.
