Job Summary
Job Summary:
The Electrician/Generator Mechanic Assistant will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of whole electrical systems, as well as the inspection, servicing, and management of different types of diesel generators. The position requires technical proficiency, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, switches, and outlets.
Supporting the Senior Electrician/Generator Mechanic in inspecting and servicing generators, including fluid level checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance tasks.
Assisting in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical system issues, under the guidance of the Senior Electrician/Generator Mechanic
Assisting in the repair and replacement of electrical components, such as light fixtures, sockets, and switches.
Carrying out tasks related to the organization and inventory management of electrical equipment, tools, and supplies.
Assisting in the setup and maintenance of temporary electrical connections for events or projects.
Following safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, including cables, lights, appliances, and other related equipment.
Ensuring uninterrupted power supply by maintaining, servicing and engine overhauling of generators, including monitoring coolant levels, engine oil levels, battery maintenance, and refueling.
Overhauling, repairing, and replacing generator components such as cylinder heads, liners, pistons, rings, crankshafts, camshafts, valves, etc. Make every effort to do the preventive maintenance rather the post-damage repairs as far as possible and assist the supervisor in preparing the Annual Preventive Maintenance Plan.
Generating reports on generator performance, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
Inspecting, repairing, and reprogramming generator synchronization systems, including controllers, sync programs, AC/DC alternators, etc.
Managing and maintaining solar systems, including inspections, repairs, and reprogramming of inverters and solar PVs.
Collaborating with other technical staff and contractors to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of electrical and generator systems.
Report immediately any major problem concerning the electricity supply system to the supervisor for further action.
Liaise with UNDP Security Guards and Cleaners occasionally on detecting minor electrical faults and simple preventive measures to provide full-fledged technical support in case of office renovation, refurbishment, and revamping of the telephone, electricity, and LAN cables as well as during the replacement of the machinery and equipment.
Learning and developing skills in electrical systems, generator maintenance, and repair techniques.
Providing support in maintaining accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities.

Job Requirements
Language:
• Excellent written and oral English language as well as knowledge of local languages Pashto and/or Dari is required.
Qualifications and Skills
Academic Qualifications:
The Electrician/Generator Mechanic Assistant should possess the following qualifications Academic Education and Skills:
• A bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years’ experience in electrical and mechanical engineering. OR
• Certification of high school with 10 years of experience in electrical and mechanical engineering and
• Strong knowledge of generator systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to electrical work.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
Experience
Years of experience:
• Minimum 10 years previous experience in electrical and mechanical engineering with High School Certification and 1-3 years previous experience in electrical and mechanical engineering with Bachelor Degree
• Proven experience in electrical system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of generators and electrical system issues – Submit recommendation letter and/or performance evaluation from your previous employer.
• Proficiency in using tools and equipment for electrical and generator maintenance.
