Job Description:
The purpose is to establish and broadly support the resilience and well-being of vulnerable children and young people through structured activities conducted in a safe, child friendly, and stimulating environment known as Child Friendly Spaces. Children in CFSs through (protection, health and nutrition) facilities will be offered child friendly activities like painting, drawing, storytelling, singing fun and sports teaching them child rights and child protection in an age-appropriate manner along with hand washing activities to promote hygiene of the children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the CFS facilitator in developing and maintaining an environment that promotes physical, social, and emotional development through arts, crafts, games, and other child friendly activities.
- Ensure that the CFS is well maintained, clean and safe for children. Ensure water and hygiene facility is available for children and is safe to access.
- With the support of the immediate supervisor, he/she support the development of the weekly or/and monthly activity plans of the given responsibilities.
- Implements all the child friendly services in an age appropriate and safe manner, encouraging child participation.
- Works with children in creating songs or stories on child rights and protection in a culture sensitive manner.
- Uses storytelling as a means of providing psychosocial support, teaching children about the culture, child rights and child protection in a respectful manner.
- Tracks the psychosocial improvement in children attending the CFS using tools developed by INTERSOS.
- Engages the children in drawing activities to help them overcome fear and trauma and talk about their experiences.
- Support the facilitator in the identification and assessment of children to check for possible protection concerns and/or identify children who are malnourished, or who have health or psychosocial risks. When necessary, refer to case workers or report to supervisor.
- Any other task assigned by the line manager.
- Compile with INTERSOS CP, PSEA and Data protection polices, Cash and case management SOPs.
Job Requirements:
- Candidates should have a Diploma in Early childhood care.
- Have at least certified document of fine art and/or graphic art
- Worked with NGOs in Child Friendly Spaces for at least 1 year.
- Sound knowledge and practical experience of Early Childhood Education.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and expectations.
Practical Skills:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Time management skills.
- Art skills.
Personal Qualities & Attributes:
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure.
- Ability to provide safe, fun, and stimulating activities for children.
- Ability to work with other professional bodies to ensure child safety is always maintained.
- A good communicator with staff at all levels and an ability to translate technical information into amateur terms.
- Able to take the lead in particular area of responsibility.
Preferable: Understanding local contexts and dialogues is additional value and owns knowledge of Child Safeguarding Policy.
