Job Description

Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located within the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), with duty station in Kabul. The Field Security Assistant reports directly Deputy Chief of GFU through the Compound Supervisor on all issues related to the GFU in Kabul.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Field Security Assistant may be responsible for the following duties: • Screens all personnel, packages, and vehicles entering the UN compound to ensure authorized access. • Provides continuous coverage of cameras, telephone and radio communications systems, and associated recording units in the Control Centre. • Prepares daily and weekly work schedules and various periodic reports. • In the event of emergencies and incidents, alert relevant units and dispatch security personnel to the site under the direction of the supervisor of the GFU / Chief GFU. • Maintains logs and rosters and initiates chronological logs of events during emergencies. • Provides information and directions to all persons associated with the organization. • Controls pedestrian and vehicular traffic. • Alerts for any potential or actual breaches of security and any disturbances or unusual activity and reports these immediately. • Ensures that all UN property being carried from the complex is checked for appropriate documentation. • Performs other related duties as required by the Chief GFU/Deputy Chief GFU/Compound Supervisor

Education

High school diploma or equivalent technical or vocational certificate in area of Security and Safety.
Job – Specific Qualification
Prior experience of working in Guard Force; Premises Security or Security Operations in any National or International Security Organization is desirable.
Work Experience
Prior experience of working within any international organization is desirable. A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the Security Field of any international Organization or Military or Police is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is waived with first level university degree or equivalent (ISCED level 6 academic qualifications) from police academy, military university or related security field. As per the special measure approved until 27 September 2024. Prior experience of working in Guard Force; Premises Security or Security Operations in any National or International Security Organization is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Fluency in oral and written Pashto and Dari is desirable.
Assessment
Previously rostered candidates are not subject to any further assessment and as such, will not be invited for such an assessment.
