Afghan Women Coordination and Promotion Organization (AWCPO) was founded by a group of educated and committed women in 2013 as a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization registered with the Afghan Ministry of Economy bearing registration No 3010. Dedicated to the welfare, upliftment and well-being of Afghans with a primary focus on women empowerment, humanitarian assistance, education, livelihood, emergency relief and WASH.

Job Description:

AWCPO is committed to delivering humanitarian assistance funded by the World Food Program (WFP). The Surveyor is responsible for conducting door-to-door surveys of potential beneficiaries, ensuring that the selection aligns with WFP’s designated criteria. Additionally, the Surveyor will document and record all targeted beneficiaries accurately.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct door-to-door surveys of proposed beneficiaries in assigned areas, ensuring all data collected adheres to the World Food Program (WFP)‘s selection criteria.
  • Engage with community members to explain the survey process and purpose, fostering transparency and trust.
  • Accurately assess the eligibility of potential beneficiaries based on predefined criteria, such as vulnerability, household size, and income level…
  • Verify the accuracy of information provided by beneficiaries, conducting follow-ups if necessary to ensure data integrity.
  • Record all collected data accurately in both hard and electronic formats.
  • Ensure timely submission of completed surveys and maintain a secure and organized record of all beneficiary data.
  • Utilize digital tools or mobile applications for data collection, as required by the project.
  • Work closely with community leaders, field staff, and other relevant stakeholders to coordinate survey activities.
  • Regularly update the project team on survey progress, challenges, and any community concerns encountered in the field.
  • Ensure that all data collected is accurate, complete, and free from bias.
  • Conduct checks to verify the quality and consistency of the data and take corrective measures when discrepancies are identified.
  • Prepare and submit daily or weekly reports on survey activities, highlighting progress, challenges, and key findings.
  • Provide feedback to the management team on the effectiveness of the survey process and suggest improvements where necessary.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards set by WFP and AWCPO, ensuring the confidentiality and protection of beneficiary information.
  • Follow all safety protocols while conducting fieldwork, especially in insecure or remote areas.
  • Foster positive relationships with the local communities, addressing concerns or questions related to the survey process.
  • Act as a representative of AWCPO, promoting the organization’s mission and values.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on survey methodologies, data collection tools, and WFP’s evolving criteria for beneficiary selection.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior survey staff or volunteers as needed.
  • Address any challenges that arise during the survey process, such as access issues or community misunderstandings.
  • Adapt to changes in project plans or criteria adjustments, ensuring smooth execution of field activities.

Job Requirements:

    • bachelor’s degree in a related field.
    • At least 1-3 years of experience in conducting surveys, fieldwork, or data collection in a humanitarian context.
    • Applicants applying for the position of On-call Surveyor in Paktia must be residents of Paktia.
    • Previous experience working with NGOs, especially in World Food Program (WFP)-funded projects (preferable).
    • Experience with household surveys, vulnerability assessments, or beneficiary selection.
    • Proficiency in using data collection tools.
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
    • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with community members, beneficiaries, and colleagues.
    • Fluency in English and local languages (required), with strong written and spoken skills.
    • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately document data and verify information.
    • Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize fieldwork.
    • Ability to build rapport with community members and explain survey processes clearly.
    • team player who can collaborate effectively with field teams, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing field conditions and survey requirements.
    • Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges such as difficult terrain, security issues, or community concerns.
    • Willingness to travel frequently to remote or rural areas to conduct door-to-door surveys.
    • Ability to work in challenging environments and sometimes under adverse weather or physical conditions.
  • Understanding of and respect for local cultures and customs, with the ability to engage diverse populations.
  • Awareness of gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches during data collection.
  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of beneficiary information and adhering to AWCPO and WFP’s ethical standards.
  • Awareness of humanitarian principles and gender-based violence and sexual exploitation and abuse policies
