About Islamic Relief Worldwide
Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international, non-profitable, non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in Birmingham, UK. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.
Job Summary
The purpose of the job is day to day implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Larning activities across the projects in the central area. The enumerator will be responsible for the data collection, PDM (Post Distribution Monitoring), analysis, spot checks, data verification, data entry, and data analysis if needed. The enumerator will work in accordance with IRW Data Protection Policy.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Role and responsibilities
The purpose of the part time enumerator is to contribute to the monitoring and evaluation process in the data collection, cleaning, entry, verification, and possibly analysis stage. The enumerators will contribute to the learning process through field visits, observation, and quality data collection for all IRW Afghanistan component or sectors (programmers) including WASH, Shelter, Food security & nutrition, sustainable livelihood, education and skills, cash and voucher assistance and social protection and governance.
Generic responsibilities

- Ensure adherence with IRW policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Implement field visit and observation checklists as needed
- Conduct data collection as per the developed questionnaires
- Support in tasks related to data entry and data collection software
- Contribute to success stories and case studies data collection
- Contribute to photography as per IRW photography and beneficiary consent policies
- Ensure proper filing of documents soft and hard copies and submit to IRW MEAL staff
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
Planning and Maintaining MEAL Systems
- Conduct data collection process as per given questionnaires and carry out pilot data collection to test those data collection tools.
- Support in giving critical and timely feedback in case of any adjustments needed on the questionnaires or data collection tools.
- Support in uploading surveys and other quantitative data collection tools to Kobo.
- Support in preliminary data cleaning and analysis before submission to the MEAL Officer.
- Conduct quantitative data collection including survey, data checklists, and scoring based tools.
- Conduct qualitative data collection including Focus Group Discussions, Key Informant Interviews, Semi Structured Interviews, and other Story Interviews.
- Ensure gathering the recommended sample size as per the data collection framework/plan.
- Ensure inclusion of different gender, age, and demographical background as per the data collection framework/plan.
- Contribute in collecting data for success stories, case studies and other significant change interviews as per the provided data collection guide.
- Support in beneficiary selection verification visit and data collection through pre-identified checklist.
- Other activities agreed and discussed with the MEAL Officer and Coordinator.

- Minimum of a Grade 14 in social science, economics, rural development or in other related fields and University degree is preferable.
- Prior experience with data collection is preferred

- English language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing)
- Fluency in Dari and Pashto
- Computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of digital data collection platforms (KoBo, CommCare, Ona)
- Knowledge of designing form on KoBo platform is a plus
- Knowledge in media, design, photography is a plus
- Knowledge in story writing or report writing is a plus
