Job Summary
Under the overall supervision of the UNDP-East Area Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the successful implementation of the UNDP projects under direct implementation modality, and the projects implemented by UNDP partners in Nangarhar province.
The applicant is significant responsibilities under this vacancy. Beside s/he will work in close cooperation with local authorities, community representatives, implementing partners and UNDP-East staff.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Operators are responsible for vending system of the project.
• Operator and monitor electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, and control panels.
• Start, stop, and regulate the flow of electricity through various systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems and equipment to identify and address potential issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems, such as electrical faults, short circuits, or equipment malfunctions.
• Implement corrective actions to resolve issues and minimize downtime.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment operations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
• Document any repairs or modifications made to electrical systems.
• Coordinate with other operators and maintenance personnel to ensure effective communication regarding equipment status and issues.
• Report any abnormalities or deviations from standard operating procedures.
• Respond to emergencies promptly and follow established procedures for addressing electrical emergencies.
• Take appropriate actions to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
• Stay informed about relevant industry regulations and standards.
• Ensure that electrical systems and operations comply with regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated on advancements in electrical technology and best practices.
• Provide training and guidance to junior operators or team members.
• Monitor and manage energy consumption to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
• Implement strategies for energy conservation when applicable.
• Collaborate with other team members, including engineers, maintenance personnel, and supervisors, to achieve operational goals.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Language:
• Excellent written and oral English skills a necessary requirement.
• Excellent spoken and verbal skills of Pashto and Dari languages required.

Qualifications
Years of experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an electrical operation in a similar industrial or renewable energy setting, Familiarity with electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, and control systems, demonstrated ability to interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Close consultation and coordination with local authorities, community representatives, implementing partners and field staff.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for working with electrical equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
