The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.
Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery.
AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.
Job Description:
Adherence to the duty and compliance with established medical rules.
Appropriate treatment and behavior with health center personnel and visitors and respecting the culture and traditions of the people and following them.
Providing individual and group psycho-social counseling services for clients and patients in health facilities.
Being active in relation to awareness and psychological education for clients and patients of the health center.
Providing group treatment (open and closed).
Implementation of all tasks in accordance with the ethical standards of psycho-social counseling.
Participating in trainings and transferring the learned knowledge to other employees of the health center according to the internal training plan of the health center.
Regular and active participation in meetings, supervision with mental health officials, midwives and community health supervisors and, if necessary, with community health workers to develop and improve the program and solve problems at the health center level.
Continuous teamwork with health workers including doctors, nurses and midwives in health centers (regular team meetings).
Registering all the information of the clients and consolidating its documents, recording and writing cases in a special book and form.
Setting up awareness groups at the health center level.
Setting up field awareness programs to identify and encourage mental patients and psycho-social clients to receive treatment and intervention.
Technical supervision of the activities of midwives and community health supervisors who provide basic counseling services in basic health centers.
Preparing and sending monthly, quarterly and annual activity reports to the relevant department in detail to the relevant department.
Implementation of new development programs.
Active participation in the adaptation of new quality improvement standards.
Implementation of tasks entrusted by the clinic manager and the relevant supervisor
Job Requirements:
Education: Diploma in psychology or postgraduate with experience in psychology counseling social work or related field.
Work Experience: At least one year of working experience in hospitals/clinics particularly as a psychosocial Counselor.
Skill: Good communication skills in Dari and proven management ability.
General: Local resident of Bamiyan Province or willing to stay for a long time in Bamiyan.
