About Afghanaid
Afghanaid is a British-registered international NGO, which has worked in Afghanistan for over 30 years. We assist community-driven processes that address the rights and fundamental needs of people in some of the most remote areas of Afghanistan, providing basic services, supporting development of rural livelihoods and responding to humanitarian emergencies. We are headquartered in Kabul, and operate 20 provincial and district offices across Badakhshan (north-eastern region), Samangan (northern region) and Ghor (western region), as well as a Marketing and Fundraising office in London. We employ around 160 personnel, 97% of whom are Afghans.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance of Afghanaid vehicles the timely delivery and collection of the procurement process for all departments and safe delivery of staff to their respective destinations.
This position is required to conduct periodic checks of the vehicles and respond appropriately. This position is expected to purchase items and deliver those items and/or Afghanaid staff to their respective destinations.
The Driver will be responsible to ensure safe and responsible driving of office vehicles, properly maintain it and running of official errands and assisting with other office services.
Duties & Responsibilities
Driving:
- Drive the vehicle in a safe manner complying with all Afghaniad regulations and obeying all Road Traffic Acts and to ensure that security advice is obtained before any journey.
- Carry out daily and weekly checks on the vehicle as assigned and report any required repair and maintenance to the line manager.
- Ensure that the Vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in roadworthy condition.
- Fill out the Vehicle Log Books and have it signed for each journey.
- Record the number of kilometres covered, fuel consumption, repairs and services done.
- Report any damage, mechanical faults or mishaps that occur to the vehicle
- Ensure that passengers are driven to and from their destination in a safe manner
- Comply fully with Afghanaid procedures on the reporting of accidents involving Afghanaid vehicles
- Ensure that loads and cargo are secure and transported safely
- Ensure that the vehicle is parked safely at all times, especially on overnight assignments. If necessary, stay with vehicle when parked
- Ensure that the vehicle is always parked at a Afghanaid compound or approved alternative
- Carry out any other relevant duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
Mechanical:
· Ensure that all vehicles in Head Office are maintained and checked on time on daily basis, all vehicles are repaired on proper manner and technical advice is given to the drivers.
· Ensure that the daily checks of Head Office vehicles and need of spare parts and vehicles wiring system are work properly.
· Having a well organised filing system including records of work done, staffing rosters, and performance reports
Specific Responsibilities:
Driving:
• Driving vehicles in a safe and secure manner by observing all Afghan procedures and following all road traffic laws and making sure to receive security recommendations before traveling.
• Checking and inspecting vehicles daily and weekly based on the determined criteria and reporting to the direct manager for repairs if necessary.
• Ensuring that the car is kept clean, orderly and passable and moving on the road.
• Fairy house and signing the calligraphy booklet
• Entering and recording the number of kilometers traveled, oil consumption, repair, service and services performed for the car
• Reporting the occurrence of any breakdown, problem or technical defect or any unfortunate incident to vehicles.
• Ensuring the transportation of passengers (employees) from and to the location in a safe and secure manner.

• Ensuring the safety of loads and cargoes and transferring them through Maseun.
• Ensuring that vehicles are parked safely always and constantly, especially during night missions, and being inside the car when parking if necessary.

• Perform any related duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
• Ensuring that all vehicles are safe in the central office, checking them on a daily basis, repairing vehicles in an appropriate manner and giving technical recommendations to the drivers .
• Obtaining reassurance from checking and inspecting Afghan Aid cars and keeping active the electrical system and thin and important parts of vehicles.
• Having a good filing system that includes all the work done, staff list and performance reports.
Reporting:
- To provide monthly report of tasks for line manager as per need.

Job Requirements
Job Requirements:
· 12th class graduate is desirable and must have valid Afghan driving license.
· At least 3-5 years driving work experience especially in is required and skills in minor & armored vehicle
· Having knowledge of first aids are an advantage.
· Knowledge of driving rules and regulations
· Working knowledge of English is required
· fluency in Dari and Pashto is required
· Ability to operate mobile telephones
Duty regulations:
- A 12th grade graduate is desirable and must have a valid Afghan driver’s license.
- At least 3 to 5 years of driving experience, especially in small and armored vehicles, is a must
- Knowledge of first aid is an advantage.
- Having knowledge of driving rules
- Knowledge of English is a must
- You have complete knowledge of Dari and Pashtohtami languages.
- Ability to use a mobile phone
