Job Description

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• • Responsible for providing CFS services in the CFSs.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining an environment that promotes physical, social, and emotional development through arts, crafts, games, and other child friendly activities.
  • Identify vulnerable children for PSS support through mobile CFS services.
  • Identify and refer children in need of case management to CP actors on a regular basis.
  • Design and implement recreational and psychosocial support (PSS) activities, actively involving children (with a strong focus on child’s specific needs and vulnerabilities).
  • Ensure that children get all necessary support during the activities and that rules and discipline are set up in a positive and constructive way.

• Prepare activities plan/schedule and arrange materials needed for the activities.
• Collect information (attendance sheets, questionnaires, etc.) and report identified cases of children with specific needs/extremely vulnerable to the Psychosocial Officer.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children at the CFS and as well as the environment.
• Ensure that all games and equipment are available and counted at the end of the day and ensure children are using the games and equipment in a proper way and rotation system.
• Play a vital role in setting up and running recreational activities for children using various individual and team games, and storytelling enabling access to information, child protection messages.
• Ensure child safeguarding checklists is followed in the child friendly space.
• Support children to understand the feedback mechanism and use it to provide their feedback in confidential and safe manner and ensure responses are provided to children on timely basis.
• Conduct positive parenting skills sessions for CFS children’s parents/caregivers participating to learn more about positive behaviors and other child protection issues.
• Other duties assigned by the line manager.

Help establish and maintain an environment that promotes the child’s physical, social, and emotional development through arts, crafts, games, and other activities of the child’s interest.

Identifying vulnerable children to receive psychosocial support through the services of child-friendly mobile centers

Identifying and referring children who need to receive case management services to service institutions on a regular basis

Designing and implementing recreational activities and psycho-social support (PSS), by actively involving children (with a strong focus on children’s specific needs and vulnerabilities)

Ensuring that children receive all necessary support during activities and rules and discipline are set in a positive and constructive manner.

Preparation of work plan and supply of materials needed for activities

Collecting information (daily attendance and questionnaires, etc.) and reporting identified cases of children with special needs/highly vulnerable to the psychosocial support department

Ensuring the safety and well-being of children in child-friendly centers as well as its environment

Ensuring the availability of all facilities and supplies at the end of the working day and preventing items from being lost inside child-friendly centers, as well as ensuring that children use the games and equipment in an appropriate manner using the rotation/shift system.

Playing a vital role in setting up and implementing recreational activities for children using a variety of individual and group games and storytelling that provides access to information, messages of support for children

Ensuring compliance with child protection checklists in a child-friendly environment

Supporting children to understand the feedback mechanism and use it to provide their feedback in a confidential and safe manner and to ensure timely responses to children

Holding positive parenting skills sessions for parents/caregivers of Child Friendly Center to learn more about positive behaviors and other child protection issues

Performing other tasks assigned by the project manager

• School graduates (12 grade), but university degree in Social Science (Psychology, Theology, education, literature, and sociology) will be preferred.
• One year of experience in child protection sector (CFS/School) with NGOs, but experience with child focused international organizations will be preferred.
• Adequate knowledge and skills to manage child protection cases according to the standard case management guidelines.
• Fluent in national languages, Pashto, Dari, and Uzbeki.
• These are community-based positions and therefore, priority is given to the local couple candidates, who are from the respective districts.
