Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international, non-profitable, non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in Birmingham, UK. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

Job Description:

Job Summary:

Provide a high standard of performance on implementation of EDP Project, coordination with the stakeholders, develop action plans, report on progress of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with provincial governmental and non-governmental stakeholders (DoEc) Directorate of Economy, (DoLSA) Directorate of Labor and Social Affairs, (DoCI) Department of Commerce and Industry, (ACCI) Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment to implement the project activities effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop appropriate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual plans for the implementation of project activities effectively and efficiently.
  • Implement enterprise and entrepreneurship interventions in the selected areas to a high quality ensuring that project targets and contractual obligations are being met.
  • Ensure that the implemented activities are technically sound, cost-effective, and relevant to the target beneficiaries’ needs.
  • Conduct needs assessments of project participants and supervises the designing and organizing of training programs to address the identified training needs and prepare training assessment reports.
  • Building the capacity of project participants in enterprise development, marketing, savings groups management, financial management, soft skills, and other topics based on requirements (value chain analysis, market assessment, business management skills, feasibility study, etc.) and the provision of technical support.
  • Create and promote savings, entrepreneurial, and joint production culture among the women for increased income generation at the household and at the community level.
  • Effective communication with target group members ensures a broad understanding of their roles and responsibilities and is strengthened to successfully contribute towards the achievements of planned project activities.
  • Working with the communities to identify and establish market linkages for micro and small-scale enterprise products.
  • Undertake daily monitoring visits to assess progress and identify technical quality issues and/or other implementation issues, provide solutions, and implement modifications as required.
  • Supervise and monitor the progression of activities and assist entrepreneurs in implementing their business expansion plans.
  • Facilitate visits of any internal or external stakeholders to monitor the project implementation in close coordination with the provincial team.
  • Prepare reports and submit them to the line manager, line supervisor, and relevant governmental sector weekly/monthly basis.
  • Perform any other relevant tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.

Qualification:

Education:

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in BBA, Economics, Enterprise Development, Marketing, Social Sciences, or any other relevant field

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years overall experience in program/ project implementation, out of which at least three years of proven experience in SME/MSME development, business development, community-based entrepreneurship establishment, and development.

Language, skills and abilities:

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, initiative, judgment, and adaptability with significant levels of autonomy.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, set priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Results-oriented approach to delivering work priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ability to convert lessons learned and experiences gained in the field to improve the quality of the project activities.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and report writing skills with fluency in spoken and written Dari and English.
  • Willingness, enthusiasm, and experience in working with vulnerable women with a focus on their economic and social empowerment.
  • Personal integrity and a sense of humor.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working with a multi-disciplinary team.
