Bridge Hope Health Organization (BHHO) is a non-Profit and Non-Political community-based organization established by People who use drugs (PWUD) in May 2015.

Bridge Hope Health Organization (BHHO) was founded as a network for people who use drugs. BHHO’s remit has now expanded to include key populations affected by HIV and people living with HIV. The development of the network is informed by a community consultation undertaken with over 400 people who inject drugs and other key populations in May 2015. In addition, a situation assessment was undertaken to help BHHO understand the Afghan systems for planning and delivering harm reduction, drug treatment and wider HIV prevention services. This has helped inform the focus and remit of BHHO both as a community organization representing people who inject drugs, other key populations and people living with HIV. BHHO provide harm reduction service for key affected and effected population.

BHHO’s approach long-term sustainable health, economic, social life and development of men, women empowerment who use drugs. BHHO facilitates the clarification of local concerns followed by support to planning and implementation of local heath development initiatives. We have three core principles: Basic services to reinforce livelihoods, health, human rights and harm reduction and strengthen emergency assistance.

BHHO is implementing a project in partnership with UNODC in East Region (Laghman, Nangarhar and Nuristan provinces), the main purpose of the project is to improve quality of life, health, and livelihoods of children, men, women, adolescents, girls, and families at risk or affected by drug use and other negative health and social consequences.

Main purpose of TOR

BHHO is looking for Social Worker who will be responsible for performing the below mentioned responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting social assessments, identifying the social support needs of patients, access to medical and psychosocial support services beyond the project intervention scope.
• Supporting the provision of basic care to patients and their families, by actively coordinating their work with the other members of the multidisciplinary team
• Providing direct social support based on social assessments and facilitating referrals to evaluated external re-sources.
• Provide systematic follow up care regarding client’s attendance in the field
• Participating in the creation and maintenance of any material needed for the social activities
• Mapping and regular updating of formal and informal support existing services
• Maintaining records, statistics, files, and reports on all social work activities and follow up care
• To provide information and materials to the target groups, people at risk, and their families in their catchment areas about harm reduction
• To support peer worker for handling outreach actives in the field
• To fill and update all job-related forms and records as well as provision of monthly report with other team members
• To identify and report immediately any problems that may interfere in achieving program objectives
• To follow and implement instructions and advises of project coordinator and medical doctor
• Provision of educational and informational session to the drug users and general population in the field
• To create or/ establish a well-coordinated and cooperative network with local communities, police (law enforcement agencies), and other stack holders
• Help project coordinator in organizing the planned events in Nangarhar and Laghman provinces
• Perform other related activities assigned by line supervisor

• 12 Grade or bachelor degree
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work pleasantly with the target groups, high-risk groups, and their families
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to work with a positive interdisciplinary team approach
• Ability to interact with other professionals
• Ability to provide stigma and discrimination free environment
• At least two years working experience in related fields
• Experience with target population preferable
• Afghanistan’s official languages (Pashto or Dari) are required.
• Abiltiy to work in th Ms Office Programm (Word, Excel and Powerpoint).
• Ability to travel to other provinces
