Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Kabul, Afghanistan. The Supply Assistant reports to the Chief Centralized Warehousing. The incumbent performs a variety of routine tasks related to the management and movement of supplies that contribute to the timely and effective accomplishment of warehousing services within the mission.
Responsibilities
Assists in monitoring stock of supplies in the stores; assists in conducting regular stock-taking of expendable items in the supply stores. Packing, labeling, measuring, and weighing the cargo and submission to MOVCON for further delivery to UNAMA Field offices. Delivery of office furniture and equipment to UNAMA compounds and Administrative Offices. Conduct assembling of all models of office and accommodation furniture. Assists the Receipt and Inspection Unit (R&I) in receiving and inspecting goods delivered by vendors and managed by the Supply Unit. Prepares internal R&I reports for goods in the Supply Stores. Assists in conducting a periodic inventory of UN Non-Expendable property and attractive Property managed by Supply stores. Responds to internal inquiries from Staff or refer them to appropriate contacts/units. Retrieves information and background research from various sources (e.g. Intra-/Internet, office files, central documentation services, etc.). Generates relevant status reports and other reports as required. Organizes, and maintains contract files and Section’s manuals. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Work Experience
As per approved UNAMA special measure, with a High School Certificate, a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in inventory and supply management or related areas is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to zero (0) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher in business administration, logistics, and supply service.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Fluency in oral and written Dari is required. Knowledge of oral and written Pashto is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
