Job Overview:
The Finance Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operational finance processes at the area level, and for coordinating budget preparation/reviews related to grants, funds, and budgets for all related programs, donors, and departments by ensuring adherence to NRC’s policies and donor requirements.

Responsibilities:
Generic responsibilities:
- Ensure to adherence to the Financial Handbook, NRC policies, and donor, and auditor requirements.
- Implement NRC’s financial systems, routines, and procedures.
- Maintain overall budget control and monitor cash flows.
- Management of financial team.
- Training of line managers and staff with financial responsibilities.
- Provide regular analysis and reports.
- Implement anti-corruption policy.
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
- Development of holistic and needs-based programs, including cash-based interventions and marked-based programs
Specific responsibilities:
- Ensure that cash and bankbook records are updated daily, ensuring that all coding is in line with donor and country coding structure.
- Participate in budget preparation for new proposals, grant applications, and budget revisions to ensure compliance with NRC and donor guidelines.
- Prepare budget forecasts/analysis and assist in Master budget preparation & revision at area level.
- Review financial transactions and ensure that the supporting documents meet NRC securing supporting documentation and donor regulations.
- Support in area-level month/project and year closures as per NRC set procedures.
- Daily posting of transactions in the online system.
- Assist with Internal and External Audits at the area level as needed.
- Perform weekly cash counts with the cash holder as well as verify the posting of the cash. transactions to the system.
- Participate in tender openings with the procurement team.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers and Staff to ensure proper communications and work between the program and Finance function.
- Ensure optimal allocation of expenses in line with approved budgets and projected expenditures (master budget, allocation tables, etc.).
- Coordinate and liaise with programs on the implementation of integrated activities related to the finance department.
- Implement any other finance-related task as requested by the Support Manager or Finance Manager.

- Experience working as a Finance in a humanitarian or recovery context.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
- Experience in web-based financial software
- Knowledge of cash-based interventions and market-based programs
Context/ Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, or Financial Management.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role with international NGOs or the UN with a master’s degree and 5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of security context in the northern region.
- Strong computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel is mandatory)
