About Youth Health and Development Organization (YHDO):

YHDO is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization established in 2009, and registered with the Ministry of the Economy in Afghanistan. YHDO works with interdisciplinary professionals to develop and implement innovative, culturally appropriate, evidence-based interventions.

Job Description:

Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare and perform public awareness programs on child rights, violence against children, and psycho-social support.
  • Distribution and keeping records of IEC materials
  • Identify outreach sites in targeted provinces and visit outreach areas daily
  • Identify cases of violence and provide psycho-social counseling and legal support
  • Regular follow-up of registered cases with victims
  • Facilitate referral of violence cases to the legal aid services provider organizations for legal support.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to families for assessment of reintegrated child situation
  • Assess and ensure the safety and protection of boys after family/society reintegration
  • Facilitate referable cases to an external structure if required and agreed with YHDO management
  • Ensure high quality of social services within an overall project
  • Keep daily records in a confidential and safe manner
  • Ensuring quality data entry daily
  • Close coordination with outreach workers in the outreach areas and coordination with a psychosocial counselor
  • Perform any other tasks in line with the job description and assigned by the direct supervisor

Job Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • University degree in social work, psychology, or sociology
  • Experience working on human rights and access to justice-related projects, ideally with children (2 years minimum)
  • Good knowledge of children’s psychology and the child protection sector
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and writing skills in Pashto, Dari, and English language
  • Able to provide reports on/before its due time and upon any further request by the immediate supervisor
  • Respect for confidentiality and a sense of security
