Job description

CTG Overview

Overview of position
Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)) Migration Health the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant (MHPSS), and the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for will actively engage in the implementation of MHPSS activities including social considerations in basic services and security, strengthening community and family supports, focused non-specialized services and ensure referral to specialized services, as required in their related provinces. She/He is expected to carry out their duties under the strictest ethical standards and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural sensitivities.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Deliver basic counseling sessions (Individual and/or group counseling) to the affected people who are identified by or through the IOM Migration Health Team as an integrated approach.
2. Implement tailored psychosocial support program activities for the displaced and migrant populations in the designated locations, in collaboration with MHU, and ensure that the implementation of social, religious, and educational/vocational activities is culturally appropriate.
3. Assist in the identification of psychosocial needs, and proposition needed interventions to reduce risks and increase the resilience capacity within the displaced and migrant populations, in collaboration with the MHU.
4. Organize and lead support groups, focus group discussions, and awareness-raising sessions and contribute to the development of messages related to MHPSS awareness-raising and sensitization.
Role objectives
5. Support Senior Project Assistant (MHPSS) in delivering training or workshops tailored for sensitization on MHPSS issues and remedies.
6. Conduct ongoing monitoring, analysis, and reporting of the psychological condition of the affected individual and provide periodic reports of psychosocial activities conducted in the designated areas including psychological reports and statistics every month.
7. Coordinate with Senior Project Assistant (MHPSS) and Senior Programme Assistant (MHU)/MHU Team Leader on cases requiring higher-level interventions.
8. Coordinate with the Regional MHPSS Technical Working Group and other relevant stakeholders at local provincial levels.
9. Always maintain confidentiality of all beneficiaries and internal information.
10. Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Counselling, Social Works, Psychiatric Nursing, or related field from an accredited academic institution with One year of working experience, Or
High School Diploma /Certificate in the above field with three years of relevant experience.
Experience
- Experiences in clinical psychology, educational psychology, psychiatric nursing, or other related field.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Experience working in the UN and humanitarian sector is an asset – specifically in MHPSS programs.
- Good knowledge of counseling and community mobilization methods and tools
- Experience in supporting medical teams and community-based organizations.
- Experience working with survivors of trauma, including GBV.
- Working on emergency and development project
