Brief Job Description
The Veterinarian Field Officer is responsible for providing technical assistance to livestock farmers and other stakeholders in the project area. The Veterinarian Field Officer will work closely with the Livestock Project Manager to develop and implement livestock health and production programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance to livestock farmers on animal health and production practices.
- Conduct regular field visits to livestock farms to assess animal health and production status.
- Identify and diagnose livestock diseases and implement appropriate treatment and control measures.
- Train livestock farmers on animal health and production practices, including vaccination, parasite control, and nutrition.
- Organize and participate in livestock health and production workshops and trainings.
- Examine animals and check their health status
- Collect and analyze livestock production data.
- Prepare and submit reports on livestock health and production activities.
Job Requirements:
- DVM or equivalent veterinary degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in livestock health and production.
- Strong knowledge of livestock diseases, parasites, and nutrition.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in English and local languages (Pashto, and Dari) is required.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical terms and conditions using simple language.
- Experience conducting various types of surgeries, vaccinations, and health checks on animals.
