Objective:
The purpose of the Faculty of Science and Engineering’s ESSOR scholarship program is to facilitate the supervision, by faculty members, of new graduate students by contributing significantly to their funding. Thus, the program encourages the next generation of scientists by facilitating access to graduate studies. Faculty members who supervise students in the program supplement the scholarship by an equivalent or greater amount.
Eligibility for the ESSOR graduate scholarship – FSG:
- Applicants must have Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or hold a valid study permit at the time of starting the program.
- Candidates should have submitted a new application for admission to a regular science or engineering study program, 2nd (master’s with thesis) or 3rd cycle, for the fall semester.
- Students must be registered full-time (12 credits or more per semester) or have “deemed full-time” status during the scholarship period.
- Candidates should be under the direction of an FSG faculty member.
- During the duration of the ESSOR scholarships, they cannot be combined with a scholarship from a granting agency (CRSNG, FRQNT) or any other major scholarship intended for graduate students.
Selection criteria:
Excellence of the student’s application file and recruitment needs. In particular, the committee may prioritize applications supervised by faculty members who are at the start of their careers.
Value of the Scholarship:
- 7 scholarships of $10,000 (at the graduate level in water-related fields, offered by Marthe-et-Robert-Ménard).
- 1 scholarship of $10,000 (at the graduate level in actuarial science, offered by Martin Papillon).
- 1 $10,000 scholarship (for graduate studies in actuarial science, offered by the National Bank of Canada).
- 2 scholarships of $30,000 (at the graduate level in water-related fields, offered by Marthe-et-Robert-Ménard).
